You
may or may not be interested in the subject of this newsletter. It's
pretty specialized. But you probably will be interested in the sale that
is announced at the bottom.
Announcement
We
have successfully concluded testing on our new Positive Pulse PWM
technology. I've received a number of requests for PWMs that have this
technology over the years, but don't have a way to reach them all. I
thought I would get the information out in a newsletter.
What is Positive Pulse?
As
you know, a PWM pulses power to the cell on a fixed frequency. The
amount of time the PWM is "on" vs the amount of time it is "off"
determines the amperage that will flow through the cell. If you are
unclear on the basics of how a PWM works, see this excellent article on
the subject: What Is a PWM?
What
you may not have known is that the PWM isn't pulsing the positive
voltage. Every PWM on the market today pulses the ground side. The
battery voltage side of the cell is on 100% of the time. Only the ground
is turned on and off by the PWM. You can test this with your PWM by
measuring the voltage of your electrolyte. You will find it is the same
as your battery voltage, even if the PWM is completely turned off.
This
means that with a negative pulse PWM, when your cell is "off', the
cell, reservoir and electrolyte are all at full battery voltage all the
time.
A Positive Pulse PWM,
on the other hand, switches the voltage side, either 12 or 24 volts,
whichever voltage your electrical system uses. The ground side of the
cell is connected at all times. This means that when the PWM is off, the
entire system, cell, reservoir and electrolyte are grounded via the
cells ground side plates.
This
is most important in commercial applications where reservoirs and
sometimes the tubing is made out of stainless steel. The whole system
will be hot 100% of the time, even when the system is off, when using a
negative pulse PWM. With positive pulse PWMs the entire system is
grounded.
At present, the only positive pulse PWMs available are prototypes. I have a few of the 100A Commercial PWMs in Positive Pulse and also a few of the Commercial Smart PWMs.
If you need one of these to evaluate, order them from the site, and in
the shipping instructions, specify that you want the Positive Pulse
version. However, no discounts are allowed for the Positive Pulse units
at this time. Once they are mass produced, we will be able to offer
wholesale discounts and special offers.
Special Sale
In
order to fund 2 special production runs of positive pulse PWMs, we are
offering a massive sale. You can receive 35% off for any of our Full System Kits or any of our PWMs. Just use the promo code 35pwm35. You will see a box for the promo code on the payment page during checkout.
Please take advantage of this sale while it lasts. Order now.
